Deep Fried Pork Cutlets (Tonkatsu)

Cooking time: 30mins

Ingredients (for 4 persons)
4 pork loin cutlets
1 tsp salt
black pepper
flour
1 egg
fresh white breadcrumbs
shredded cabbage
tonkatsu sauce

 

  1. Make 2-3 short cuts at the line between meat and fat, and beat the pork with a meat pounder to tenderize.
  2. Sprinkle with the salt and black pepper on both sides, and dust the pork lightly with flour. 
  3. Dip into the whisked egg first and then coat with the breadcrumbs evenly.
  4. Meanwhile, shred the cabbage and soak in cold water for 5 minutes.  Drain.
  5. Slide in breaded pork and deep fry until the underside turns golden; then turn over.  Frying time is about 6 minutes.
  6. Drain the pork well and keep hot.  Cut the pork into bite-size pieces and place on a plate.
  7. Pour tonkatsu sauce over the pork.  Arrange the cabbage beside the pork, then serve immediately.
