Potato Croquettes

Ingredients (for 4 persons)
5 potatoes
1 large onion
1/3 lb ground beef
1 egg
salt and pepper
flour
fresh white breadcrumbs

 

  1. Peel and boil the potatoes until soften, then mash them.
  2. Saute minced onion, and ground beef in order in a frying pan, and add the salt and pepper.
  3. Mix mashed potato, onion and beef in a bowl, then season with the salt and pepper.
  4. With floured hands, shape the mixture into 8 oval, flat cakes.
  5. Dip the croquettes in the beaten egg and coat them in the breadcrumbs.
  6. Heat the oil slowly to 350 degrees F, and fry the croquettes until crisp and golden.
