Have you ever wanted to stay at a hotel that is just as relaxing as your own home? "Home Away From Home" is the concept for the superior services offered at THE STRINGS by INTERCONTINENTAL TOKYO. The sunlight filtering through the ceiling fills the water-surrounded lobby as a glass bridge leads you to the hotel's restaurants. Designed to create a calming space for guests, the hotel's interior emulates the soothing atmosphere of nature, creating a modern sense of serenity at the same time.
In November 2008, the hotel expanded its 31st and 32nd floors to offer higher-quality services to Club InterContinental guests. From these rooms, guests can enjoy a fantastic view of Tokyo Tower and Mt. Fuji, as well as the beautiful nightscape of Tokyo Bay.
Over the next two installments, we will take a closer look at the limited-time "Club InterContinental Experience" offer.
The signature concept of this plan is the enjoyment of top-quality services in your own room. After you walk in the guest room, the first thing that you will see is the wide window that spreads from wall to wall. Open the curtain all the way and you will have a private view of the fantastic Tokyo landscape. Welcoming amenities include fresh oranges and senbei rice crackers from Shinagawa. Guests can also enjoy snacks and drinks from the mini-bar, as well as full bottles of wine, all at no extra charge.

The calming, brown-hued decor, along with the pale-colored curtains and soft lighting, creates a gentle ambience throughout the room. These rooms are popular among foreign travelers, who at times make up about 70 percent of the guests. The tall closet makes it easy to hang long coats. The bath tub is big enough for a lady about 160 cm tall to stretch out and relax. Grab your favorite magazine or novel and the complementary head rest and bath pillow will provide for a pleasant time while having a long, relaxing soak in the tub.
The Club InterContinental Experience plan offers supreme moment of your own as for the meal, too: the plan includes in-room dining. The guest's choice of a French-fusion or Chinese dinner will be delivered to the room from one of the hotel's two restaurants, THE DINING and CHINA SHADOW. In the next installment, we will feature menu items that delight both the eye and the palate.
